The ROD DT focuses on developing innovative solutions to address congestion, safety, and environmental impacts of surface transportation systems. The research activities of the Institute include the following areas:

• Our vision is to be a diverse and inclusive regionally-based, nationally- recognized research, education and outreach center dedicated to solving pressing transportation and freight infrastructure problems and producing highly trained transportation professionals in Afghanistan.
